Course information
This course provides participants with the knowledge and skill to confidently recognise and respond to an emergency situation requiring first aid, is suitable for the general public, students and corporate clients delivered in town or at remote locations, and can be tailored to suit your specific requirements.
Skills Recognition (RPL) or Assessment only pathway
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the acknowledgment of skills and knowledge obtained through training, work and/or life experience and as described in the Student Handbook.
Training and assessment arrangements:
This accredited course is delivered in three (3) formats, all of which provide participants with the knowledge and skills to confidently recognise and respond to an emergency situation requiring first aid.
- One Day course with workbook - conducted in English, applicants must possess functional written and spoken English skills. Practical training will be delivered face to face, either on site or at the Henge Campus. The training is delivered in one session of eight (8) hours, at a time to suit the Facility, or the majority of the participants

Two Day course (one full + one 1/2 day) - designed to support ESL participants, delivered on prior arrangement

Three day course (3hrs each day over 3 days) - specifically designed for delivery in remote NT, on prior arrangement
Students under 14 years must provide written permission to attend the course from their parent or guardian.

The course is delivered by local, qualified industry professionals, who understand the context of practice and embrace the principles of cultural safety in their teaching.
Course fee:
Fees are payable though the website, at our Offices and may be tax deductible to eligible students. All fees must be paid before a Certificate or Statement of Attainment is issued. Pre-payment secures your enrolment for this course.
- $195 per participant ($185 on-line pre-paid booking) one day course min 5 participants
- $150 per participant group rates are available for bookings over 5 persons
- Classes on campus or at your workplace, on schedule or afterhours
- Class size is limited to a max of 10 participants - unless otherwise arranged
Remote travel is additional to the course cost, and will be quoted on request
Text Books
All participants must complete a workbook of basic pre-reading and assessment, available as a pdf by email or hardcopy from our office and taking approx six (6) hours, prior to the day of the course.

1 competency unit is required for award of this qualification, with content including:
- Principles of First Aid, legal issues
- Infectious Diseases and Hygiene
- Basic Human Anatomy and Physiology
- Management of Conscious and Unconscious Casualties
- Airway Management
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
- Bleeding
- Shock
- Burns
- Fractures and Soft Tissue Injuries
- Head Injuries
- Ear, Eye and Facial Injuries
- Chest, Pelvic and Spinal Injuries
- Diabetes, Epilepsy, Stroke, Asthma
- Heart Conditions
- Environmental Exposure (hot and cold)
- Poisons, Bites and Stings
Also encompassing an introduction to Mental health First Aid, use of the Epi-Pen, special consideration for remote area practice and the Automated External Defibrillation (AED).
