Melanie van Haaren
Melanie van Haaren, CEO and Director, trained as a nurse in Darwin General Hospital in the early 1970's. Since then Melanie has achieved higher degrees in nursing and education. Melanie has held many senior nursing positions including Principal Nurse Advisor in the NT.
In addition to managing Henge, Melanie is a consultant working on a range of health projects in regional and remote Australia. Melanie has also worked as an international education consultant, primarily in the South Pacific. Melanie's expertise and passion in rural and remote health care is very evident in the Henge programs.
Jo Fox
Jo Fox, Coordinator of Academic Programs and Director operates from the Top End. Jo has lived and nursed throughout the Territory and as a result she is well across the challenges facing regional health services.
Her knowledge and expertise in the area of nursing education needs no introduction to 'those in the know', Jo has long been held in the highest regard for her organisational skills, diligence and expertise when it comes to teaching nursing students. Jo has had significant experience with writing and implementing new curriculums and brings depth and breadth to the school in terms of academic rigour.
Karyn Clark
Karyn Clark is our First Response Course Co-ordinator and brings to Henge Education 16 years of experience in dealing with Medical Emergencies. She has a Bachelor of Health Science (pre-hospital care) from Charles Sturt University and also trained as an Anaesthetic Technician through the Australasian Society of Anaesthesia Paramedical Officers and the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPA) Sydney.
Karyn consolidated her skills working with the Australian Defence Force, being deployed on numerous occasions for humanitarian and peace enforcement/keeping operations. Karyn has also been employed by the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Central Operations) as an Intensive Care Paramedic stationed in Yulara.
"It is an absolute pleasure to be able to teach here at Henge Education, I have done the hard yards in the field and now it is time to pass on a lot of my knowledge and experience to our students" Karyn said.
